KERNEL is an innovative audio-visual performance created for artist Chlär, which premiered at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) 2025 at the NXT Museum. The project is founded on a no-capture-imagery mandate, meaning the entire visual world was built exclusively through procedural generation and real-time systems over a year of development. Conceptually, KERNEL dives into the human condition, exploring the friction between our primal instincts and the complexities of modern society, specifically addressing themes like mass consumption, surveillance, social media, and the essential need for genuine reconnection.

The creative strategy required developing a unique, dynamic aesthetic for high-impact live visuals. This was achieved by engineering a sophisticated hybrid technical stack that combined pre-calculated generative content with real-time components. We leveraged AI technologies to produce the core visual segments and utilized custom-built low-latency patches for precise on-the-fly mixing. This unique workflow ensured seamless, bold performance quality and pushed the boundaries of A/V execution.

As the Tech - Creative Director & Supervisor, I drove the project from initial R&D through to the premiere, defining the creative vision and then collaborate with @FEMUR_v overseeing the entire technical pipeline. We managed a small team of artists through an intense development cycle, establishing the generative workflows, ensuring system stability, and leading the integration of all custom and third-party technologies necessary for the show's complex, real-time execution.
